THE OUTLAW - ART DIRECTION

  • Context & Creative Vision
DJ Snake's alter ego, The OUTLAW, marks a daring divergence into darker, bass-heavy territory—encompassing dubstep, hard techno, and unfiltered energy—emerging under this alias during his electric debut at Lost Lands Festival 2024. The persona embodies a rebellious, enigmatic spirit, born out of the artist’s desire to break free from mainstream constraints EDM House NetworkThe Bridge.

    Project Goal
We were tasked with crafting the visual identity for The OUTLAW: defining its logo, typography, color palette, and image treatment. This branding needed to be as raw and powerful as the music itself—designed not only to resonate across the biggest global festival stages but also to serve as a bold, cohesive symbol across every visual touchpoint.

    Deliverables & Strategic Assets

    • A striking logo — memorable, dark, and raw enough to reflect the alias’s outlaw spirit.

    • A visual style guide, with an aggressive reversed color palette and gritty typographic identity.

    • Image treatment — high-contrast, moody imagery that amplifies the mysterious persona.

    • Stage & digital assets — visuals and key art tailored for LED walls, social media teasers, tour posters, and press kits.

  • The logo creation for The Outlaw centered on a powerful symbol absent from DJ Snake’s main identity: the serpent. Here, the snake is depicted biting its own tail — a reference to the ouroboros — but with a decisive twist: the head is cut, turning it into a metaphor for rupture, rebellion, and transformation.

This form is enclosed within the universal “No Entry” sign, an icon recognized across cultures. The combination amplifies the outlaw spirit while ensuring immediate impact through a shape everyone knows.

The result is a bold, minimalist mark designed to stand alongside the world’s most iconic music logos: simple in form, yet loaded with meaning — a visual emblem of defiance, power, and identity.

  • For The Outlaw, the merchandising line was conceived as an extension of the character itself — bold, raw, and unapologetic. Inspired by biker culture, the pieces reinterpret classic codes (patches, heavy graphics, leather detailing) through a contemporary lens, making them both wearable statements and collector’s items.

Beyond traditional merch, we designed unique stage outfits tailored specifically for DJ Snake’s performances. These included one-of-a-kind leather pieces, crafted to embody The Outlaw’s rebellious spirit while giving Snake a commanding, unmistakable presence on stage.

Each release and capsule drop was tied to specific events, reinforcing the alter ego’s identity and creating a strong bridge between the live experience, the fan community, and the brand.

  • As part of The Outlaw’s identity rollout, we designed several music covers to reinforce the visual universe across digital and physical releases. The most emblematic piece was the cover for his Lost Lands 2024 set — the very stage where The Outlaw was revealed for the first time.

Lost Lands Festival, founded by Excision in Ohio, is widely considered the world’s premier bass music gathering, with colossal stages, prehistoric-inspired visuals, and an audience devoted to the heaviest sounds in dubstep and electronic music. Debuting The Outlaw here was no accident: it was the perfect setting to unleash a darker, rawer persona, immediately embraced by the global bass community.

The cover design reflected that same energy: a bold, high-contrast visual treatment rooted in The Outlaw’s branding, merging aggressive textures, sharp typography, and a menacing aura. It stood as both a commemorative artwork of the debut performance and a continuation of the alias’s powerful visual code.
