DJ SNAKE - PATIENCE
(WITH AMADOU & MARIAM)

  • Patience is a collaboration between DJ Snake and legendary Malian duo Amadou & Mariam, reinterpreting their 2008 anthem Sabali. The project aimed to blend music, cinema, and activism, creating not only a powerful track but also a cultural statement on migration, resilience, and hope. Our mission was to translate this message into a cohesive visual identity system across artwork, typography, posters, and campaign assets.

  • We developed the cover artwork by combining custom typography with bold, stamp-like graphic treatments — evoking both the urgency and endurance captured by the song’s title.

    • Creation of a bespoke typographic system, balancing modern lines with handcrafted textures.

    • Design of stamps and graphic motifs used as recurring visual signatures throughout the campaign.

    • A focus on minimal but powerful composition, aligning the visual language with the track’s emotive narrative.

  • The project’s visual system extended into poster campaigns and film branding:

    • Layouts for promotional posters that combined stills from the short film with typographic stamps.

    • Graphic consistency between the music release and the cinematic short, ensuring one strong identity across all assets.

    • Integration of symbolic motifs (patience, resilience, journey) into the design language to deepen the narrative connection.

  • The visual identity was rolled out globally, across both print and digital media:

    • Billboards in key cultural hubs, including an activation in Dakar, Senegal, with large-scale visuals displayed in the city streets.

    • A collaboration with a local Senegalese artist, who reinterpreted the Patience title design as public art — grounding the campaign within the community.

    • Digital adaptations for streaming platforms, social networks, and partner media to ensure coherence across all touchpoints.

  • A highlight of the campaign was a special screening at Le Grand Rex in Paris, showcasing the short film Patience.

    The Short Film
Directed by Valentin Guiod, the film was shot in Senegal and follows the journey of a young man leaving his family to attempt a dangerous sea crossing — a metaphor for migration and resilience.

    Casting
The project featured Omar Sy, whose presence brought emotional depth, alongside Amadou & Mariam themselves, adding legacy and poignancy (especially following Amadou’s passing).

    Activism & Partnership
The film partnered with SOS Méditerranée, highlighting the humanitarian dimension of the project and raising awareness around migration crises.

    Recognition
The short film received wide acclaim on the festival circuit, including awards for Best Music Video and Best Cinematography at Aesthetica Film Festival (BAFTA qualifier), as well as honors at the Berlin Music Video Awards, One Point Four Awards (Gold), and the Kinsale Shark Awards. It was also selected at Côté Court, Bogoshorts, and Indy Shorts.

    Posters & Visuals
We designed the posters and graphic layouts used to promote the screening and festival circuit, extending the identity of Patience into its cinematic life.
